ALERT MAT

Every American deserves the dignity to live independently in a safe environment. Today, there are more than 40 million people with disabilities in the United States, and as the population ages, that number is projected to grow dramatically. There are currently more than 10 million blind or visually impaired people in the U.S., with someone new becoming blind or visually impaired every seven minutes. One of the most sweeping federal laws for civil rights ever passed is the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. The ADA ensures that public domains in the United States are safe and accessible to everyone, regardless of health or handicap.

To provide a safer environment for visually impaired citizens on public streets and sidewalks, the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG) mandate the use of detectable warnings on curb ramps, hazardous vehicular areas and transit platforms. By rule, detectable warnings are to consist of raised truncated domes with a diameter of nominal 0.9”, a height of nominal 0.2” and a center-to-center spacing of nominal 2.35”.
AlertMat™ exceeds the ADA requirements for detectable warning surfaces, and was specifically engineered for durability, easy installation and low long-term maintenance costs.

Designed to Comply-Economically!

AlertMat’s™ durable, one-piece construction was specifically engineered to reduce installation time and costs. Simply glue the mat to the concrete surface, anchor it around the perimeter and seal the edges. That’s it!
AlertMat’s™ unique design fits perfectly and instantly over a standard curb ramp and brings the surface into immediate compliance! A beveled edge is added around the mat’s perimeter to provide pedestrians an easy and safe transition from the pathway to the top of the detectable warning surface.

In an independent study comparing 14 different detectable warning systems, "AlertMat™ gave the best overall lab results,"*- Dr. Leslie W. Sandor, Ph.D.
